I bought a brand new set of 1.94/1.50 Chevy valves a while back on ebay. The stock 1.78/1.45 valves from my E5 351W heads are 5.07" long but the Chevy valves I bought on ebay are only 4.88" long. Is there anything I can do to use them or should I just sell them?...and no, there won't be any chevy engines in my race car. ;D I wouldn't have bought them if I would have known how long they are......my goof for not asking. The valve keeper groove is also a little lower down on the stem compared to my stock valves.

a friend of mine had Armstrongs put chevy valves in a old set of 289 hipo heads. im sure they could be made to work just gotta talk to the people who know. im not sure of the difference between your heads and the old 289's but changing the valves, some guide work and assembly was around 600 dollars a few years ago that was including valves. im sure having the spring seats cut and maybe your guides cut would keep proper seat pressure and avoid coil bind, cuting the guides down so a highlift cam doesn't bottom out the keepers. you will have to switch to adjustable valve lash if your heads aren't already. after all that you will have to make sure the rockers are still centered over the valvestem when your all done. nothing worse than a valvetrain that takes itself apart(rockerarm sliding of the valvestem and poping the locks loose). these are things to consider. i know what you want to do can be done, not if its your best option. personaly id call sombody like Allyn and ask him. hope this helped some. id say go for it but im a chev guy so the more chevy the better on the other hand i thought a bigblock in a chevette was a great idea too.

I'm just gonna sell these and get something else...it's not worth all the hassle...I should get my money back no problem as I'm only into them for $42US and they are new GM product.
