Looking for information on building up a V6 Vortec engine from a 95 S-10 pickup. Will be putting a carb system on it and a manual transmission. Will be using it for both Drag racing and street driving. This will be installed in a car when finished with rear wheel drive, 4:10 rear axle ratio. Anyone familiar with using a computer engine program to select the required components ? Or, can suggest what to use for a carb, cam etc... Looking to produce around 200 - 300 HP output from the engine.
Thankyou

That engine produced 150–165 hp and 230–235 ft·lbf torque when new with TBI. Ask some of the Lake Doucette 6 cyl class fellows how they are making 300+ with the 4.3 It can be done with a cam, piston, heads. There are 2 and 4bbl intakes available.

Check the back issues of car crafts tech articles on thier site, they built a hyd roller cam 4.3 with the 96 up vortec heads and made almost 320 on pump fuel, i was very impressed with the mild combo it was. But the key was the 96 up vortec heads, same as the 350 stuff.
