Anybody got any idea how much power a stock, 26 spline, case fill C4 will be able to handle? I will be using a 3500-4000rpm stall converter? I think I can get the tranny built for free if I buy the parts, I'm just wondering if I could get buy with a stocker for the first race season?

Buy at least a TRansgo Street/strip shift kit. There will be a press regulator spring along with the other stuff and you will be good to go.
The Zephyr from NFLD went 8.40's with a C-4, my brother and I use them with no problems.

I'll be shifting mine full manual like I do with my 63 Mercury when I race it. I paid $200 for that C4 five years ago and it still works perfect. ;D

if your getting a shiftkit, get a baumann. They make the best for Fords!

c4's can handle quite a bit of hp, it's the longevity that becomes an issue with high hp levels. Anything over 600- 700 hp look to freshen up often. I have run close to 1000 hp through mine and it has survived thus far, other than the clutches in high gear burning up if the fluid is not fresh.

I've done a lot of research on the C4's, and I've got two C4's and two C5's here to build from. From what I've read I have a pretty good idea what I need to buy to build a stout little tranny.
