I was wondering if i had a turbocharged vehicle, with a intercooler, and if i had it geared up to spray a fine mist of water on the intercooler would i be permitted to race with it on, this of corse would leave drops of water on the ground/down the track, just wondering what the verdict would be on this, thanks

Well Patrick if it leaves a trail of water drops when you go down the track I can say that the track officals will ask you to fix it so it will not leave any droplets of water on the track, it makes the surface of the track slippery.
Hope that answers your question.

Not to be argumentative or anything, but would you appreciate the guy running ahead of you dumping anything on the track before your run?
I mean getting sideways going full out at the end of the track could make for a bad day!!

I mean getting sideways going full out at the end of the track could make for a bad day!! Trust me it is no fun , been there , done that . 128 MPH , brakes on , looking out the passengers side window down the track thinking "Don't you roll over !!". Several years after it happened the starter told me he had read my number on the drivers side window 3 times . It gets the old heart pumping for awhile.

Here is a alternative instead of spraying a fine mist of water.http://streetrodstuff.com/Products/1809/ and it works better with no water drops. .... ok... 1.9s... now thinking about a turbo and this.... your nuts Hugh... hehe

I only wish I could go the turbo root, low 12s or high11s would be fun but the 5 grand to get it, is nuts.I will have to stick with a blower for now and hope for the best.

I wonder. For all the added weight of that system, will you really see much of a difference in ET?

With a turbo or a blower you generate an enormous amont of heat forcing the air into the cylinder,if you can cool that heat down you will make more HP.On a morning when it is 14deg.C.outside I can run 2 tens faster at the track than in the after noon when it is 18deg.C. and that is with pretty much the same 60ft time. With a intercooler you can drop the temp.144 deg. in the cylinder and make 30 to 50 more HP by adding more boost with out the heat.I.m not sure how much the system will lower the air going into the motor but it dosn,t take a whole lot to make a differents in HP.The price bothers me more than the weight dose on that system.Althought it is still cheaper than Nos. and less harmful to your motor.

I'm putting twin 6.5L GM diesel turbo's on my 357W project next winter. I have the turbo's already and some SS shorty headers to fab them too, the laws of physics say that a stock 350CID engine with 10psi of boost will make 450HP. I'm going to have an intercooler, more than 10psi of boost and probably a methanol/water injection kit in the future. It should easily make over 600HP @ 5000rpm on pump gas. It's gonna be done in baby steps so I can learn the tuning aspect of a carb'd turbo setup. Probably no intercooler for the 1st season, just 10psi of boost...Should still be fun. ;D

hey guys im actually putting my cheap dragcar of the year together after blowing my big block chevette i decided it was time for something that could be street driven. so whats a good replacement why a twin turbo small block acadian (read chevette). just got a new tig so it should be fun to learn on just need a f350 intercooler and i will have all the parts. so hopfully by the time u start on yours stuart i will have most everything figured out if not maybe we can help each other out. im going to be testing on 305's who cares if they blow up lol. ive already have a supercharged 350. you cant beat the power of a few extra psi chris

My plan is 10 psi and no intercooler for the 1st year with the turbo's. We want to keep the HP below 500 for the first season until we learn the tune. My 357W has forged Sealed Power pistons, stock "football" rods and ARP HP rod bolts. Once I have the tune figured out I'm going to upgrade the rods/pistons turn up the boost a little and add the intercooler/meth kit. I'm looking for reliability and consistancy, huge HP or really low ET's are not the big goal. I'd be happy with a 11 flat car as long as it's 11 flat most of the time.....I have a lot to learn about tuning and piloting this heap...LOL

my goals are a 10 second street car even if its 10.99 id be happy. the big block car went low twelves with low 11 second mph on around 450 hp. im building log style turbo manifolds(looks simmilar to the ones banks make) t-bird turbos with t3-t4 impellers and a carb enclosure(i think, maybe hat??? not sure yet). 15 lbs if it will take it,chevys have a few extra head bolts that helps.im trying to figure out if i can run an 02 sensor through a comparator chip into and injector driver for extra fuel and to cool the intake charge. like i said before im strating on junk 305's but if i get it figured out i might use my good 350 towards the end of summer. its a 355,trick flows, blower pistons, full roller, fully balanced, built for boost motor, armstrongs did all the work. im hoping that motor+2200lb car+boost=fast lol. chris
