Being an ADRA event as well as a regular Greenfied points event, we set up early so we could have Time Trials on Friday evening 6-9 PM. That was a best seller and was appreciated by many that had not yet put a run on their cars this year because of the weather.
As promised the weather was great - 28C on Saturday. Sunburns were abundant and free as well as the standard June issue of fresh starving black flies and other tiny outdoor creatures - - - -.
There were a fair number of new entries from the three closest Provinces. We thank all for making the trip.
The hook must have been decent as there were a few U-Joint and Rear End casualities early on.
It was noticed that for some unknown reason Henk Neisten has not yet repaired his car as it continues to belch bright orange flames 4 feet into the air on every pass........ I even caught him using a wire brush on the inside of the stacks Sunday. He was obviously attempting to correct the problem but with no success, however the children (and some not so children) think it's great.
Saturday started at 9AM sharp, time trials for all till 2:45 then the Gamblers Race with 83 entries. Time trials were run between all rounds.
Sunday started again at the advertised 9AM sharp, again with time trials in sessions.
Eliminations began at approx 12:30. All classes were qualified first and we "got'er done" a little after 6.
There were only a couple of minor delays. The first was a tiny shower that wet the rug for about 20 minutes. Where that came from is anybodys guess but what can you say.
The other was when we decided to do a bunch of ticket draws to give away a bunch of prizes between rounds. It took longer than anticipated, which was pointed out to us by a few people. Guess we didn't plan that too well. Oops....bear with us, we do learn by our mistakes.
If we give less stuff away it will be quicker....just kidding.
There were 150 or so entries with a less Sportsman than normal. There may have been some concern on their part about it being too busy a weekend to get lots of runs but there were plenty of time trials to go around.
This was our first ADRA event, for which we thank them, and we hope everyone was pleased with the venue. We are always open to comments and suggestions.
We thank the ADRA for the opportunity to be on the schedule and look forward to the next one.
Also, we need to thank all the racers and fans as well as our staff of unpaid volunteers who do it all for you, put up with me on raceday and keep coming back for more.
