So I guess that means that the winners lane will "light up" so to speak. If so ,thats a sure fire way for the fans to tell if they cannot hear the announcer!

These lights will be hard to see for the spectators . They are positioned more for the racers .

Yes Scott they did and still will, these other two lights are down at the finish line, for the benefit of the racers.

First off - thanks for the great weekend - had a great time!!
Is there any particular reason that time trials are pulled up by class? I can see that it's pretty space limited. It'd be nice to be able to just head on up when you were ready instead of waiting for your class to be called. Perhaps making a cutoff time for free time trials could be a better way?? Some drivers are just there to try to get what they can out of their car or are tuning.
I realize that there were entirely too many cars there today to chance not getting the race completed, but on a saturday or a quieter sunday, it might be a good way to go.
Thanks again for all of your hard work..

Good question, thanks for asking.
When there are are lower number of cars at the track, time trials are usually "Open", that is, open to all classes. The problem is that when the car count gets higher it becomes a problem. There are 2 issues. It usually ends up with a number of cars "Hot Lapping" to get as many runs as they can get leaving those that are not able or wanting to "Hot Lap" barely able to get more than one time trial. The lines in the staging lanes become far too long and congested. It has been tried both ways many times at every track and the only way it does not turn into a mess is to do it in sessions when the car count is up. If you start with open trials then realize it is getting messy, it is a real problem to switch to sessions and get it cleaned up. Doing it in sessions is fair to all in that every car has the opportunity for the same number of runs. If a car chooses not to do a run when their class is called then there is more time for those that do.

This is just a suggestion,I'm wondering if it would be to time consuming or out of the way for the announcer to call off some of the sponsors that come with the cars?I know some sponsers are in the stands and would like to here them I,m sure. Some of the names on the cars are to small to read from the stands and some of the people never go to the pits.I have also knottiest that the PA system is hard to here.I know it is hard to here over the cars anyhow but there you go.I understand that on sunday we are trying to get things done as fast as possible and that there may not be anought time for this but maybe on saturday. Thanks for reading. PS.This is just a suggestion remember.

Your suggestion about sponsors is a valid one . However the problem lies in the fact of how to list the sponsors for all the cars that have sponsors . The timing system program has very limited abilities in this area . It has 1 line available to put about 20 - 25 characters in . This would work for some but not for most . So the decision was made to not enter any sponsor information into the timing system program . Also because of our present tower layout , the announcer cannot see the cars to read the sponsors from the side of the cars . I hope this explains why you do not hear any mention of car sponsors .

As one of the larger sporting events of the maritimes;and you have a excellent sound system;how about playing the national anthem....We raced karts, open wheel and european drags, this is the first time we have not had it as an opener.Normaly it was played at the end of time trials/qualifying, at the start of racing,It gave the meet a sence of occasion[and let everybody know racing is a go!!].Just a suggestion.....Pat

Good suggestion. I have been looking around for a good rendition of O' Canada. I have downloaded at least 15 versions but did not find the one I was looking for so I guess I never finished the project. Let me see if I can come up with something to burn on a CD for this weekend. I will do my best between now and then. Perhaps we can find a volunteer to sing it?

Again guys - thanks for the great weekend. You had quite the task on your hands to get 'er done this weekend!!
Reading through the decisions regarding saturday's gamblers race - I'm wondering:
1. Why was the first round of "BOX" a qualifying round and "NO BOX" an elimination round? 2. Why was there a double pay back for "BOX" class and not "NO BOX"? 3. When was the decision to roll the bikes and sled's bash into the sunday payout made and where?
I guess the suggestion here might be along the lines of perhaps calling for a drivers meeting regarding these kinds of decisions. Until I read the report, I had not even heard of these things happening.
