First off, my name's Adam. I'm from Guysborough Co., but have been living in Edmonton now for five years. It is time to move home, now that the family is getting bigger, and I'm trying to find a car scene in the old country. I have never been to the drags, but have wanted to get involved since I first got my TurboCoupe. I don't know what kind of level you are all at, but my car ran 16's stock, so don't laugh. A guy's got to start somewhere, right? Anyway, here's the T-bird. '87 5-spd, all stock the last time I drove it, but I'm in the process of rebuilding a Garrett T3 .60/.63 to replace the choking Borg Warner IHI, and have installed a Gillis Boost Control Valve so I can push the stock lump a little more than the 15psi it came with. Goals? mid 15's. Yeah, I know. Aim high, right. So, does anyone here know anything about TurboCoupes, or T-birds in general?

Good to see another t-bird getting ready for the track. My name is Stu and I'm building a 1994 t-bird for the strip with a twin-turbo 351W (357cid). I'll be running N/A for this summer and will be back with the TT setup in 2007. ;D
There's lots of goodie's for the turbo 2.3's to make some big HP with that little 4 banger. I'd like to build a 2.3T for the strip once my t-bird is done, maybe put it in a pinto or a ranger just for fun. Ebay has lot's of 2.3 turbo stuff.

Right on. I'm an MN12 fan too. Before the '87, my wife and I owned a '91 base 3.8L. If it weren't for that boat anchor, the car would have been a keeper. Looks like you have the lack of power part worked out though. I couldn't justify puting a $70 tank of gas behind a V6, only to get a week's worth of driving in before the next fillup. Will gas above a buck now, at home, I'm going to have to get used to $80 fillups. "Welcome home. Now get out the wallet for 1.02 gas and 15% tax." Once the T3 is on, my next upgrade would be a turbo header and maybe a 3" dp with a high flow cat (or a gutted one). It's a daily driver, so I don't want to get too carried away. Plus, it breaks down enough as it is, I don't need it to be less reliable.

I had a 95 Cougar XR-7 for 4 years, it had a 4.6 SOHC...That worked like a top, I never did anything to that engine except for regular maintenance. It had leather, posi and the works. I alway's like how the t-coupe's looked. I see one parked down the street from me all the time....They could make a good sleeper with enough boost. ;D

And they do. Even the guys who should remember when the TC was new still forget the model existed, or what was under the hood. And that's a small percentage of the enthusiasts I come accross. Most just think it's a big full frame boat with a V6. The truth is, they aren't really any heavier than a Fox hatch Mustang. It's always fun to stretch her legs, then pop the hood after a cruise (there are a couple of local cruising clubs I drive with). Import guys esspecially get quite a shock when they see a fourbanger in there. They look particularly small in a bay meant for a 302. I've raced plenty with it (and those days are far behind me) and the one guy who beat me got quite a shock. I don't think he was really expecting to work for it. RX7 Turbo II. Anyway, that was my last race on the street. Once you go over a bridge at 180 in the city, you realise just how stupid you have been. How easy you could have lost more than just a bit of pride. That's why I need to get to the track. It's only a matter of time before I give in to the urge.

Yeah, I know what you mean about doing stupid things with your ride. ....I picked up my rods/pistons today from the machine shop so now I can start assembling my 357 this weekend....Wahoo!.....LOL...Sealed Power forged slugs on reconditioned "football" rods with ARP wave-loc HP bolts. Should be good for a while until we go nuts with big boost and methanol injection, then it will be time for H-beam rods. ;D
