I have a few questions, I'm looking for a little feedback. Here's the combo I'll be running.
351W, bored .030" over (357CID)
stock rods and crank
Hyper pistons (forged if I can afford them)
Ported E5 heads, 1.94/1.5 valves
9:1 compression (possibly higher once I choose pistons)
Comp Cams 280H flat tappet grind, .512" lift on intake and exhaust, 230 duration on both. (I've got 1.7 rr's that could bump the lift to .544")
Weiand Stealth, high rise dual plane intake with a 1" phenolic open spacer
Holley 600 vac sec with quick change kit
Longtube headers, 1-5/8" prim, 3" collectors (no exhaust)
Holley "blue" electric fuel pump with holley adjustable regulator.
Moroso electric water pump drive kit.
Ford Duraspark -II electronic ignition (with an MSD 6AL or Crane hi -6)
For now I won't be turning this thing more than 6000rpm, maybe 6500 if it will pull hard to there. I bought a 600 Holley (4160) because it should work well up to 6000rpm and I got it for $25 ;D. Once we get the engine/car hooking up well I'll upgrade to a 750 if needed. My questions:
1) How do I go about picking a power valve size for my carb and what should I start out with for a vacuum secondary spring and jets? A ballpark would be good. I've got to order a rebuild kit for the carb as soon as it gets here. I bought a book on Holley carbs to learn as much as I can about working on them and tuning them interesting reading so far. I've got a 4160 on my roller 5.0 as well and it works great.
2) The headers have 3" collectors, I want to put a 12" piece of pipe on the rear of each header, should I stay 3" or step down to 2.5" to help build a little extra bottom end torque?
3) stall speed, I'll be running a C4 with a flashed up stock converter for now, what kinda stall speed would you guys suggest with this combo?
4) Cooling system - are you guys running straight water or using a little coolant too?
Thanks for any info or help that you guys have offered so far. ;D
